ARMSTRONG - RINGSTED SCHOOL DISTRICT

SPECIAL ELECTION

PUBLIC EDUCATION AND RECREATION LEVY

APRIL 8, 2008

Property Tax Only

Shall the Board of Directors of the Armstrong-Ringsted Community School District be authorized to levy a Public Education and Recreation Levy property tax (PERL) not to exceed thirteen and one-half cents (13 ½¢) per one thousand dollars ($1,000) of assessed valuation, and be authorized annually to levy a PERL property tax with the levy for collection commencing in the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2008 to be used for the purposes set forth in the full ballot?

To run for one of these offices you must fill out an Affidavit of Candidacy and a Petition for Nomination.  On the Petition for Nomination you will need to have 33 signatures for the Democratic party and 28 signatures for the Republican party.  These papers can be picked up at the Emmet County Auditor's Office, Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.  You may file these papers with the Auditor's office no sooner than March 3, 2008 and no later than March 26, 2008.

Voter Registration

A person must be registered to vote in the county Auditor's office to be eligible to vote in any election.  A citizen may register to vote at the Auditor's office, or for an online registration form you may visit:

Absentee voting

To vote absentee you will need to fill out an official Absentee Ballot Request form. You can either come to the Auditor's office at the Emmet County Courthouse, 609 1st Ave N, Estherville, IA or call us at 712-362-4261 to request that a form be mailed to you.
